Hi all, many thanks to all of you and your wonderful support you've shown to us so far regarding inviting me into deep, important, sensitive matters around truths and realities and the deep affects of racism.
I'm really looking forward to the various content and conversations Rebecca and I could further explore and offer for those who are long term subscribers, and new readers alike, to Rebecca's wonderful work in anti racism, advocacy and sharing of her deeply personal life experiences.
I'm new to substack (and online content creation for that matter), forgive me whilst I adjust and begin to set myself up here and get cosy to bring more content creation into my weekly/monthly schedule.
I'm in deep respect that Rebecca has invited me to explore creating content with each other around such matters, and look forward to catching up with Rebecca soon!
I sure wish I could financially support this effort - it is a wonderful idea - but I am actually having to go into debt to help a family member (elderly), has had her retirement income stolen monthly, has had her house of 43 years turned into a hoarder's house, and now has to move out of her home tomorrow due to a foreclosure by the bank . All of this happened because she allowed relatives with addiction to move into her house - and then trusted them. So, I am doing all I can personally and financially to help her get to a safe place. (And, even though the Sheriff will come Monday to evict whoever is there - the two addicts and, sad to say, two children, and all their junk), these addicts spend most of their time in their rooms. It's a horrible tragedy. But-- good luck with your venture. Sorry. Wasn't looking for a pity party. Just explaining why I can't financially support this great idea.
Oh this is awesome. Please talk to tangata whenua (indigenous people) in colonised countries. I’m a Pākehā (white person) from Aotearoa (NZ), and right now we have a coalition government that is degrading all the good work done by both right and left wing governments in the past fifty years. It’s heartbreaking, and important that the colonised be heard, as they fight for their rangatiratanga (self-determination). Arohanui o Aotearoa ❤️
Hi Wink, thanks for your feedback. The first thing we did was try to record the video cast using the equipment you mention below. The result is a mediocre quality film that will not engage our audience. We want to do better. The studio owner has sympathy for our cause and has given us a good discount for an all-inclusive package that will give us good sound, a well-lit studio - which as you know is important for my dark complexion (I’ve written about this before) and coaching. All of this will lead to a professional outcome which is what we want to achieve to ensure the video cast is viewed and shared extensively in all circles. We need some money to start this off, but we are confident that if it is done well, we’ll find a sponsor who will help with the costs.

So looking forward to our collaboration on this Dan.
Very excited. Sharing with family members. We're a mixed family, white and Black together. We're keen to hear these convos.
Thanks so much for your support Caroline. It means A LOT .

I’m sorry you and your friend are going through hard times. Take care.
It's an excellent idea.
I've had a great many deep conversations with black women -- friends, women I've dated, co-workers.
I've also had many conversations that went like this:
Me: "I think you're amazing. Would you like to go out with me?"
Woman: "Oh, that's flattering, but I have a boyfriend."

The content is what's important not the equipment or using a studio. I'd like to suggest you and Dan initially start with a low budget approach. Use phones for video and get microphones for audio: https://www.google.com/search?q=inexpensive+audio+recording+equipment+for+vlogging
